How to Submit a Resume to the New York District.....
Brief Description of NY District Résumé Process
- A minister submits his/her résumé to the Superintendent
- The District sends a thank you packet with a list of additional materials needed
- Once this material from the minister and the Superintendent reference arrives, the minister’s name/résumé is placed on the active list.
- When an open church requests résumés, the Superintendent reviews the active list and selects a number of résumés he feels are possible good matches for this particular church. (He takes many factors into consideration.) There is generally a good mix of résumés from inside the district and outside the district.
- The church calls references for résumés.
- When a church has narrowed their search to 3 or 4 potential interviewees, they contact the district. The district then contacts the potential interviewees to ascertain their willingness to interview at this particular church. (This is the first time the minister is aware that his/her résumé has been sent somewhere.)
- If the minister agrees to interview, the district contacts the church and releases the church to call the interviewee.
- Once a church has interviewed their choices, they decide on a candidate. The church will then contact the prospective candidate. If all agree, a candidating weekend is planned and a vote will be taken.
Open Church List Policy
By 2004 District Council action, the New York District will provide, upon request, an “Open General Council” church list to those who are licensed or ordained with the New York District Council.
